Acupressure : Skin Problems & Acupressure
hi I'm Hilary Talbott acupuncture physician and clinical herbalist coming to you from Saint Petersburg Florida today we're going to be discussing acupressure techniques for treating skin problems there are many different patterns of disharmony that could lead to many different types of skin diseases and discomfort so it's important to understand what your actual diagnosis is so visit your local acupuncture physician so that you can get a handle on what your diagnosis is and which acupressure points might be specific to your condition you can do that by finding someone on a queue finder calm today we're going to discuss two common points that are often utilized in treating many skin conditions the first one is gallbladder 34 this point is located on the lateral side of the leg won-soon inferior and interior to the fibula head so what that means is I like to come to the inside of the lateral malleolus on the gallbladder channel and run my finger up the crest of the fibula just before you finger feels the head of the fibula bone this is usually gallbladder 34 now this point is really effective if you're experiencing a skin condition that is hot red itchy painful and sometimes using as this point clear is what we call damp heat so you want to use moderate to firm pressure on this point with your fingertips sometimes circling in a counterclockwise direction can also be helpful generally the patient will feel a dull ache during this acupressure it's helpful to stabilize the leg on the other side at another point called spleen 9 another point that is helpful is large intestine 11 now this point is very helpful when you're experiencing a skin condition that has to do with heat or what we call wind and you will experience as itching this point is found on the large intestine channel at the end of the crease in the elbow and if you search around you'll find a little divot or Hollow and you want to firmly press your finger into the point and again in a counterclockwise direction now both of these points are bilateral so you can do them on either arm or leg and again to get an effective treatment it's helpful to visit your local acupuncture physician to understand the root imbalance of your skin issue I'm Hilary Talbott and that was acupressure for skin conditions
